BOMBARDIER’s Omneo Normandie Undergoes Type Approval Tests
Teams from manufacturer BOMBARDIER and EURAILTEST (with its partner laboratories the Railway Test Agency [AEF] and the Test & Measurement Department [DGII-ME]) continue to lend their support to tests on the Bombardier Omneo Premium vehicles ordered by the Normandy Regional Council and funded by the State.
First tests on braking performance began in August 2018 and were completed on time.
Preparations were made upstream by the BOMBARDIER and EURAILTEST teams who adopted flexible arrangements to allow for the contingencies inherent in test campaigns of this type and make maximum use of the weeks booked for test runs.
EURAILTEST personnel has also been present at the test circuit in VELIM for tests on the loudspeaker system (speech transmission quality: RASTI and STIPA) and adhesion trials.
Tests are now continuing on the French national rail network on interference currents, traction performance, current collection (single and multiple units) and aerodynamics. The final rounds are scheduled for completion in the first half of 2019.
The test campaign owes its progress to the close cooperation between the BOMBARDIER and EURAILTEST teams and the support of the Technicentres handling the trainset.
